We tow a 1.6t goldstream - don't even know it's there!
Hi Barnie
Have just completed around Oz trip (almost 20k) in our MY12 D4 towing our Future Systems 6.7m van (just under 3t). Great trip with no problems. Fuel consumption less than 15 l/100km. Would recommend mitch hitch and traxide dual battery system. Now have approx 136k clocked up.

Barnie,
I guess your the same Barnie who was asking questions on the caravaners forum about the D4. I realise your on the central coast and I'm in Bathurst about 4 hours away, however, you'd be more than welcome to come and inspect my D4 and Van and I'll take it out for a tow to show you how it all goes. In addition you could see how everything is connected.
My van is a reasonable size at about 3300kg fully loaded so you could get an idea of how easy the D4 tows it. I realise that I'm I little bit away from you but I'm around for the next few days so you'd be more than welcome if you wish to visit.

I've just reread thisthread on my path to being convinced about flogging the Deafener and getting a D4.
The Indy that does any technical stuff on the Deafener would say "Why bother, just spend the extra money upgrading stuff ontheDeafener" but I feel the need of another more all round more comfortable vehicle than a Puma!
We only tow a small Goldstream which the Puma does with ease so it'll definitely not be a problem with a D4.
The only problem is the Cook......will I still be able to drive after she's beaten me for floggingthe Deafener?

Thanks to all as today we secured a Disco. Pick up next week and then will begin the task of getting some towing items attended to. Our weight distribution hitch we had with our old van needed to be upgraded for the one we are having built. So there's one thing we now don't have to worry about.
Anyhow thanks so much to everyone for their advice and encouragement.
Guessing I'll have plenty more questions coming up though??
Nice one Barnie. Bring on the questions & don't forget the photos.
Any details, SE/HSE?,..which engine, options etc?
Anyway, well done, We love our Defender & Wifey didn't like Discos at all,......until she drove one for a day, when Gracie was being serviced.
From the moment she started to drive it, she was "how good is this"?!
