I would take a small amount of the money that you intend to spend on parts and use this to purchase a Land Rover specific Four Wheel Drive training course. I think you will find that your money will be well spent and you may save yourself a few dollars in the process. We do run courses and you would be surprised how many people need to adapt their driving style to cater for the newer vehicles.

I dont doubt any of you comments or opinions. However, if the car did not need the protection plates why do people make them and why do people put them on? I am just wanting to protect my car and hopefully not damage any of those "vunerable" parts. I have been 4WDing for a very long time +40 years. In fact my 1st 2 4wds were and 80" and an 86" Series I. I do not buy my 4wd's for the bitumen but rather to see where and how far I can take them. I agree you dont need protection for the Canning although this year there was a not of water and mud and with my bash plates underneath my car was not as dirty as my sons. I do live in Victoria. And yes I have been on a LR experience day. It was nothing extreeme. Yes I learned a lot about how to drive these beasts, which is different to my past 4wds. However it still does not deminish my concern about delivery times of some suppliers. Tombie I sent you a PM where I named the supplier concerned.

Let's suppose, hypothetically of course, that I was the supplier concerned, and that you David, were the (hypothetical) purchaser. Now I have a message in large print, on all my buying pages, that states it takes 18 ~ 21 days for production. That's my call - and I state it up front. Let's (hypothetically) assume you somehow didn't read that, neither did you read of the impending workshop closures (again in large print), which in September delayed any production for a further 4 weeks.
If you were my client and you ordered anyway, I'd assume you WOULD have read that - before you decided to purchase - and would decide whether to go ahead, or contact me to see if it was possible to rush an order through. And if you emailed me and asked what was going on (hypothetically), I'd point this out to you, and would naturally expect you to email me back to resolve your issue. If you (hypothetically) didn't bother to email me, as a supplier I'd be pretty pi$$ed off if you started ranting on a forum and PM'ing people - what exactly would you expect them to do??.
Funnily enough, I WAS closed for 4 weeks - my mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer 8 weeks ago, and I want to spend some time with her - and I was running a training course in Victoria.
But of course, this isn't remotely close to reality, is it?

Just in case Gordon is your man.
He is no fly by nighter,Ive known him for many years,the first time we met he was still punishing a D1.
I'm sure Gordon will help you out when he can.
Make sure you someday make time to meet Gordon and do one of his courses,you wont get better information about your vehicle ANYWHERE.

Hi Gordon,
I'll see you Wednesday to pick up the sliders and protection plates I ordered for the D4. From experience on my D3, they are great products, very well made, can take the punishment and I can't wait to fit them.
