D3 stopped between Thredbo and Jindabyne NSW

    D3 4.0 v6 won't start.

We stopped in thredbo and car wouldn't start. Let it cool down and after a few tries she started.

Started to head to Jindabyne and at the bottom of a hill she stalled and came up with a transmission error.

    Now won't start again.

    I've let her cool down.

    Disconnect battery for a reset.

    Checked brake lights

    Anything else?

Any advice feel free to reply on here or message me on 0473890832

    Thanks

    James

What was the actual Error message James.

I've put a post in the main D3/D4 area to try and get a few more people to see this.

I assume you haven't got any sort of code reader with you?

    Thanks for replying.

The error flashed on and off very quickly so I don't recal te full
Message. I just remember transmission been mentioned.

The only thing I can put it down to is altitude and constant high revs over a couple of hours. Engine temp gauge didn't rise.

Is it possible for the gearbox to overheat?

Right now it's on it's way back to Melbourne with LR roadside assist and we are stuck in Jindabyne waiting for a courtesy car to be delivered.

I can't praise LR roadside assist enough. I'll do a write up once home.

Good to hear you are not sitting in the dark.

My limited experience with LR assist have always been good.

I'll leave the other post in place over night and see if you get some more knowledgeable responses...

Enjoy Jindabyne... it's a beautiful place

Whilst I think that would mean things did not get too hot, on a recent trip I watched the coolant temperature on the Nanocom change 16 degrees over the course of a days driving and the needle on the car's gauge did not move at all!

I hope all works out well.
Back in the D2 days they introduced a temp gauge that stays in the middle until it overheats, dont believe what the gauge says, the only real way to see what is going on is with some sort of aftermarket monitoring. In the D2 I used a nannocom, yet to get something for the D4,at least its under warranty.
