Repco have 20% off for auto club members bringing the omega BST2000B down to $103.
At closed height will these fit under an arm instead of lifting from the chassis ?

I haven't tried them but I am considering this one: Safe Jack 6 Ton 3inch Universal Lift Pad. The chassis frame at the recommended jack point is roughly 5cm wide so that pad might work (with the recommended Omega bottle jack).

I'd prefer to buy the proven Tuffant adaptor which is also half the price, but it has been out of stock since at least June. Are there other ways to get the Tuffant style of adaptor for those of us without a lathe?

    Jack Option

Has anyone used one of these to raise their D4, suitable chassis adaptor would also be required?

If viable this would save having to carry 2 jacks when the caravan is joining the travel adventures.

I have an Omega BST2000B bottle jack and since changing from the standard 255/55 R19 wheels to slightly larger 265/65 R18 - using the LR approve jack points it actually doesn't lift the car high enough to change a wheel. not sure if the old scissor jack would have the same problem. I'll have to use an inch thick piece of wood under it to get the job done.

I asked Tuffant about the adaptors earlier this month when ordering a set of rims - was told they are restocking "in a few weeks".

I have an 8 tonne jack with 464mm height.

My camper trailer has one on the draw bar, useful little thing. Dunno if it'll lift the D4, i think by the time you built a bracket to lift it. The weight and size of the bracket would over come the advantage.

Me personally, I use the scissor Jack when I need to. Never had an issue.

I recall their extension was reduced at some point unfortunately. I carry a block of wood, 40mm thick with my jack that is enough to lift it and I use an adapter. This adds as a solid jack base anyhow so win win.

Alternatively jack under the arm and you’ll be fine.

I have always carried one or both of these with me, depending on where I am travelling, and the scissor jack is still in its original home if I ever need it. So far, the Kinchrome 6 tonne jack has always managed to do everything I need. The adaptor to suit the Disco jacking points shown in the last photo fits onto either jack.

I also have a steel base plate that lives under the drawers in the back of the car that suits either of these jacks.
    Cheers .........

Today was also the first time I've removed a wheel on my D4 (I have plenty of experience doing this with cars with unitary bodies).

I have an SCA 8t bottle jack to carry in the disco, which has a 36mm diameter head. I removed the EAS relay and fuse before starting from the normal height. I tried to jack using the LR recommended chassis point but the jack head moved sideways and I was not happy. So I used the lower arm which was interesting as the body/chassis moved up substantially before the wheel cleared the ground. And then getting a jack stand under the lower arm was difficult. I finished up using a small jack stand that could fit but was pushing its rating.

Could I have put a jack stand under the chassis rail while jacking the lower arm? That's probably a silly idea but the chassis lifted so much that it might work... obviously the lower arm would drop once the jack was lowered, but so what? I'd be happy to work under the car with a rated jack stand firmly under the chassis with a jack keeping the lower arm partly raised.

Another question - see the photo below of the jack in the lifted state - I wasn't too happy with this because the head moved sideways as it lifted ... or is this "just the way it is"?

I have a trolley jack which is too small for the disco. Looks like another trolley jack is in my future.
