I was wearing very dark sunnies & was having trouble reading the dash in certain light.
I am getting on a bit as well.
I have ditched the sunnies for driving (Optometrist is un-impressed) & now have no issues.
I live in NWQ so the sun is going to bugger my eyes anyway.

It's not a polarised sunglasses problem is it? My polarised sunnies caused the displays to display nothing on my Freelander 2 which has the same displays as a Disco 3. Admittedly I could see the dials, but all LCDs were unreadable apart from random angles.

Was thinking the same myself. When I'm wearing my sunnies, the (after market) TPMS monitor in mine is a black screen and I can't read anything on it (fortunately it has audible alarms). Everything else on the dash and the touch screen in the D4 is OK though.
    Cheers .........

Yes, D4 displays work fine with my polarised sunnies. D3 and Freelander 2 green displays are really poor however, basically show up black.

If you watch closely, you will see after the girlies walk by and the head tilt is done his top lip quivers just like an old ram when he smells a ewe on heat

I tried this in my MY13 D4 HSE today. If I hold my sunnies at 90 degrees it blanks out the screen between the speedo and tacho but the main display above the console only needs a 45 degree turn. So it is probably a Polarising effect as Tombie says and maybe the OP can get sunnies that are polarised at a different angle to solve his problem.
