TDv6 - is the timing belt/oil pump problem as bad as it sounds?
Having just sold my Perentie, I'm going to be cashed up shortly to go for a D3.
I know forums tend to find all the negativity about certain things, but I'm trying to remain positive toward the TDV6 vs the 4L petrol.
Other forums (mostly UK based) seem to have a lot of problems with failed oil pumps after timing belt changes.
Is the issue as big as it seems?
I'm not too fussed between petrol or diesel - but I am fussed if the diesel goes tits up due to a pump failure.
I've looked at a couple of diesels so far, and they have both had the belt done, but I don't recall seeing anything about the oil pump.
Is it a major issue in Oz? Or was it just lucky the UK had issues?
Or do I need to factor in the cost of checking/replacing the oil pump on whatever I buy - assuming I end up with a diesel.
