    New Tyres

I' doing the GOE trip later this year up the CSR and Rudall river and I'm purchasing another 18" rim so I'll have 2 spares. All tyres are D697s. The ones on the car have done 40k. The question is do I leave the brand new tyres as spares or do I put them on the front/rear as a pair and have the half used ones as spares?

I would put them on the rears if it was me,and i was carrying a lot of weight.

Rears seem to get the most damage, particularly the left rear.

The more tread, the less chance of damage through the tread.

I would guess the existing tyres are at least 2/3 worn.

Then maybe use them as spares once back in town, wearing all four out at once.
