Incorrect figment of the oil filter is a common leak (& can potentially lead to crankshaft failure due to oil pressure drop)
Hi All,
I have a 06 TDV6 and am losing large amounts of oil down the rear of the engine onto the bellhousing. I have eliminated a rear main leak it appears after a good clean up that the culprit is higher up at the back of the engine somewhere. Does anyone have advice on isolating the culprit. How does the oil filter housing attach to the engine, are there o rings in there that could be worn?
Many thanks

There is also an oil pipe across the back of the engine which gets chaffed on a mounting clamp and starts to leak. It is external to the engine but needs body off to replace it from what I understand. Also make sure that the sump plug is not leaking. Mine was stripped and covering the back of the engine with oil, even though it is at the bottom of the engine.
