I have a couple of hills around town where I drop it in Sport and plant the boot. You are right about giving the 2nd turbo a clean out. I've had the drain upgrade and then later the 2nd turbo replaced. It'll still do it after a few weeks of city driving but even before the drain install it was never as bad as what happened on the video.
Looks like it might need the secondary turbo drain upgrade.

The smoke in the video doesn't look to be what occurred with mine when burning/blowing out oil accumulated in the secondary turbo tract as mine's smoke continued to a lesser degree for quite a while, not with an abrupt end.
I've got a late model MY12 and we had the upgrade done to it after a month or two of ownership so would have been standard after that, not sure when though.
The colour and the way it dissipates does not say oil to me - I don't see any hint of blue, plus oil smoke doesn't dissipate that fast. I'm still convinced it's water being vaporised. Not sure from where or why.
What does the dealer say?
Perhaps there's a pool of water in the bottom of the air-box that only gets sucked-up when air velocity or turbulence is high enough and possibly combined with sufficient inclination.
[bigsad]Sounds plausible but scary. It does raise questions. What is the puddle of water doing there? Why isn't it draining away? What damage can/will it do if it stays there for an extended period, or if it moves from there to some other place?Quote:

After two days with dealer, they found out the smoke is caused by the malfunction of diesel turbo alternator. Then, another two days of waiting for parts and installation, I hope it really solve the problem. The service mentioned it could relate to offroad driving, but it is covered. I told them should advertising all around capable 4WD IF it can not handle the tough conditions like 4WD. They admitted the design more for urban conditions, it seems it would lost its iconic sprit in Camel trophy race when I fell in love with the beast and off-roading.
The deilma is is that I already had 3 faulty parts and caused I almost abandoned the trip. 1st, I had faulty compressor after boarder track in SA; on the tow back. 2nd, disk brake and hand brake fault after 12 days trip to Fraser Island; had to drive back after Fraser. the disc brake was just replaced before the trip. Now, a diesel turbo alternator again after two days of GOE training in Rawson, VIC. They are average offroad trip as I don't want to push to the limits. However, it seems that I already reached the limit. I had to turned back from last weeken camping trip as engine light on, restricted performance followed.
I already had my gear setup for touring and general offroad conditions, bullbar, winch, GOE rim and long range tank on the way. There is not turn back now as my mate might think I am on drugs. Should I get an extended warranty to cover the financial, but give up the trip to Simpson and Cape York, many other iconic offroad adventures? Any opinions? It become very costly option now.
