Ditto. It took 3 trips back to Trinity with the D3 to find the leaking front suspension control valve. Fault finding costs and other bits fitted were orders of magnitude more expensive than the new valve block. [bigsad] Several years ago mind you.Quote:

Yeah thats not good. In my case it was warranty. I had three different loan cars delivered to my house by LR care over the 3 occasions it was flat bedded to LR.Quote:

Ha, ditto again! LR Care flat bedded my 6 month old D4 to Southerns for a warranty fix when it started surging with a faulty fuel gauge. Pretty new Discovery Sport loan car too. Great service LR Care.[thumbsupbig]Quote:

yes, ditto for me about LR Care. Flatbed 350km+ from Portland in Western Victoria back to Melbourne plus van (after I had broken the front right drive shaft) and provided a replacement vehicle till they had it all fixed. Total cost? $nil. LRA have their critics on here but I certainly couldn't fault their vehicle recovery service via LR Care.
In the end I think on an epic journey and if the battery is 2+ yrs old I think I'll carrying a spare if only to eliminate a multitude of "what if" faults.... especially if out of factory warranty as I am .
Carrying a spare battery just because the current one is 2yo is IMO carrying weight for no good reason. If really concerned then put a new one in before going.
Yeah spare battery, unless it's used to power a fridge or something else is madness. They have around a three year life. Change it and have three years of pain free motoring
I wonder if the wire issue would have happened if you'd just used the vehicle for town and freeway work?
About the battery - old school was that you always needed two batteries in a diesel. 200 Cruiser series has two standard (but both starting batteries). Its not easy to turn over a modern diesel - or an old one of course. Plus, maybe (I am not sure) you can damage electronics if you jump start.
Put in a dual setup, you get around all those issues, and your safe. I've got a yellow top and a Traxide and it cuts itself off from my fridge so that it always retains a starting charge. It can also assist the starting battery to start the vehicle. I think the yellow top has enough CCA power to replace factory battery too.
But on the factory battery - I read here back in 2013, that someone had LR replace under warranty a battery that was a few years old. I was surprised - but I think they had some batteries that were failing. Still ... if it had of been a battery, maybe LR would have contributed (Pro Rata) to a new one?
