    Windscreen Wiper "Crack"

My D3 driver's side wiper makes a loud Crack noise when it changes direction up near the A pillar. I have replaced the blades several times with no change. It makes the noise 95% of sweeps and the amount of water in the screen does not make a difference.

Any ideas? Nothing looks or feels loose. I have not taken the plastic cap off to check the spindle nut.

Have you changed brands of blades? Some blades have a different design and the flip as they switch direction causes the sound.

Yes, I think that this is probably the reason too. I changed from OEM blades to Bosch a while ago and have the same problem. I thought they were hitting the A pillar at first but checked by opening the driver's window and putting my hand against the outside of the A pillar. The blade never hit me. It certainly does make a hell of a noise.

It's the blades. Try another brand or switch back to genuine if it bothers you Windscreen Wiper "Crack"

You should either have got 2 different length blades, the drivers is about 1omm shorter so this doesn't happen, or two of the same shorter versions.

It's that or you've bolted them down at the wrong angle but i doubt it.

This is unlikely but I had that exact noise from a wiper arm that was slightly bent when something got dropped on it. Bending/twisting the arm is virtually impossible so I cured it by replacing the arm.

I have had this issue with all brands of wiper I have tried - more like a design issue in the car - have you noticed the noise is only on the drivers side and not the passenger side even though they stop at similar angles from the vertical and have similar coverage.
