No start issues - multiple possibilities

Hi all, I seem to be having a random issue every now and again where my D3 won't start.Seems to be only happening since this happened:
    IMG_2526.jpg
I'll post up some fault codes a little later, but the time and external temp in the instrument cluster disappear. When the ignition is turned on I can hear what sounds like the doors locking and unlocking and nothing happens when the key is moved around to the start position (not movement from the starter at all). Strangely at the same time the hazard lights come on (only noticed that one this afternoon). Any ideas if this could be related to the broken drivers glass?

Usual first thing to blame is the battery. However those symptoms are similar but not the same as a canbus fault I had, caused by a shorting wire. If the glass was involved you'd expect window or mirror issues because the master switch pack is right there.

I have noticed that most modules seem to get a lost communication canbus fault so i think you might be on the money, now just need to find where the issue is.........

well, I may very well have found the issue. Just thought I'd check on the wiring around the transfer case module - found a large harness plug with some previous repairs done on one of the can bus wires. Solder join is very close to the plug so I thought I'd check the resistance of the join, turns out when I wiggle the wire it goes from low resistance to high to open circuit. So looks like as a first step I need to remove that pin from the connector and rejoin it properly. So I had a bit of a play around and I can't seem to find an easy way to remove the pin (obviously didn't want to use too much brute force and stupidity) without possibly damaging it. Any one know how this pins come out?

    Omg. What is that mess!!!
So the pins are normally remove in two parts. I think you'll find the orange bit is a cover that can be removed to get to the actual pin locks. Various tools exist to remove the pins from that plug. I don't know specifically for that plug

I suspect its a mess from a qualified auto leccy
I did read on the disco3 uk forum a year of so ago where the original owner of this car posted that a mouse or rat had chewed some wiring - so this is likely the result of that.

Got one of the local auto leccys to have a look as Im back at work. Not sure what he's done to it yet but I'll pull the battery and have a look once Im on days off. From what my wife tells me he wasnt able to remove the pin so I suspect he's installed an additional plug for that wire. But the cars running fine so far with no faults

Well wife just gave me a call, the disco is still faulting. Guess I'm pulling the battery out tonight to see wat this sparky has actually done, then back to the drawing board I suppose. Has anyone got wiring diagrams for the canbus on a D3?

You could try Cambo351. He's more into the audio side of things, but seems to have his head around the canbus stuff. Worth a PM, at any rate.
