Roving Mechanical in Peakhurst. They live and breathe Land Rover and are great to deal with.

You could ring ZF and ask them whether they have an authorised rebuilder in Sydney. They should have. A&B do that in Melbourne. You could ring A&B in Melbourne (they are in Dandenong) and ask them who they'd recommend in Sydney. A & B seemed to be exclusively ZF transmissions.

I visited A&B for a Land Rover Club exercise, and it was impressive, seeing their large inventory, their dust free service cubicles, the organised way they operate, the way they service the gearboxes, their knowledge of both the gearboxes and also Land Rovers, also their testing equipment, some of which was normally only internal to ZF inside manufacturing testing equipment. Different gearboxes had different equipment too.

but such equipment relates to re-builds. For a service on a Disco etc, they'd check the computer for what the gearbox has been doing, which would indicate potential problems based on the data and experience, they'd change the lubrication, also test the lubricant, I think also they ensure the software was appropriate (gearbox software has updates which are not always updated by the dealer), and report back to the owner on any issues they'd found. Evidently issues are pretty rare if a gearbox gets fluids changed.
