    Rewire 12S plug

Has anyone found a way to re-wire the 12S towing plug by picking up a wire from the plug inside the car or engine bay? I want to put another battery in my trailer, and have it connected to the auxiliary battery under the bonnet without having to do an extra/external anderson plug. This way the trailer battery will charge when the engine is on, but only be connected to the 2nd battery in the car when the engine is off.

    Does this make sense?

    Cheers

Hi Lucas, the BATTERY circuit in the 12S plug is designed to top up a single house in a caravan which is being moved from one powered caravan park site to another as is the common practice in the UK/Europe.

The cable is way to thin to be able to charge a single battery in a low state, without having to drive for 10 to 15 hours straight.

If you have two or more batteries in your caravan, then you are looking at never being able raise the state of charge of the batteries if they are anything but fully charged when you start your day's drive.

    Thanks Tim

It's just temporary solution - I have a pod trailer which I will eventually prepare, but for the moment I was hoping to somehow connect the 2 secondary batteries through the 12S plug. I've got your kit, so will eventually do something with that.

    cheers

I just cut the thing off and put a panel mount Anderson in its place, but yes, had to run wiring.
