    Grease Nipples Anywhere ??

    Gday All,

Been under my D3 today looking at spots to mount a 2nd fuel filter and whilst under the car started to look for any spots that need greasing. I never had my superman glasses on so may have missed the hidden one's , but are there any at all on these cars ??

If anyone has a 2nd fuel filter/ water seperator mounted on their car could you supply some pics please . only spot I have seen that may work is off 1 of the bellhousing/engine block bolts and making a guard to protect the filter.

Have you considered the spare mount just in front of the air filter? Just run diesel grade rubber house from the inlet hose of the main fuel filter up to the engine bay then back to the inlet of the main fuel filter - sounds a bit convoluted but I understand WaterWatch mount one version of their filters in the engine bay (not sure where) - possibly in the spare box where the ABS is and just run rubber hose back and forth.

The big WaterWatch will not fit in front of the air box but a small one may fit there.

No fuel issues ... YET ... I am not a fan of the filter used on the later model D3 and just want to fit something better. Personal choice , but for what a good secondary fuel filter with good water trapping capabilities costs its something I want to explore further. Biggest issue seems to be where to mount it.

Why dont you like the standard filter? The water trap capacity of the standard filter is very small so I was thinking of adding a WaterWatch but it is not a filter as such just an alarmed water catch system.

    Gday Garry,

Basically for what you just said, the standard filter would hold what = 1 cup of diesel , get some dodgy fuel and by the time the sensor warms you on the dash I think you are most likely 2 late. I just want a back up that has the glass bowl and also filters more fuel to a finer medium. My theory is if its mounted after the L/R filter then if water is detected in the L/R filter you have a chance to stop and check the next filter and see if anything is in the glass bowl. Waterwatch sounds good but why not have the extra filtering ability with a bigger better water trap and a glass bowl to see how things are.

Just my view on things. I have the filter picked out , just got to get the plumbing side sorted and see if I can fit it somewhere.

Surely this thread needs some photos of lubricated nipples.

    You all thought it.
