Are you using the D3 hitch receiver, or a D4/RRS one? If the D3, look around for a D4/RRS version, they sometimes appear relatively inexpensively. This gives you a couple of inches of extra height to start with.

What is the tounge weight of your camper?
Absolutely no idea but I don't think it is much. The car trailer however is much more. Will use the scales next time they are connected.
