If its the base cd400 (only the buttons 1-6 beneath the cd player - no numpad 0-9) then there is not input, but there are wires behind the head unit which terminate in either footwell (cant remember which one).

You can pull the unit out and wire up your own input and out i wherever you want it.

I did it in mine and you can read about it HERE (provided the link works Aux input on 08 D3 factory head unit ).

    Cheers

Aux input on 08 D3 factory head unit

How To Wire AUX MP3 Lead - Discovery 3 / Range Rover Sport - YouTube

In my case I ran the 3.5mm male jack into the lower console area near the 12V sockets.

I also added a Parrot handsfree and by using the yellow (I think) cable at the back it cuts the stereo when playing the phone call through car speakers. It displays --Phone-- on the stereo screen during this time.

The Aux input socket lives at the rear of the centre console next to the rear seat 12v socket and air outlets - yes in the back. LR logic seems that your pimply teenagers sitting in the second row seats will want to plug in their electronic stuff , but the front seat occupants dont need it.

I have an extension cord plugged in there and then into my phone so I can play my music from the drivers seat. The volume on the unit needs to be turned right up to be picked up by the car radio.

Thats only on some models (usually with the Hi-ICE pack and uprated stereo). Mine doesnt have a rear Aux input.

    Not on the poverty stereo.

I bought this part separately to gain the rear 12V socket. The plugs except for the AUX are all ready to go in the centre console. (As are the plugs for the fridge which I added also)

Same applies for steering wheel stereo controls which can be added separately and the plugs are all in the wheel.

I would have thought that the SE would have had the mid range stereo (as my car has) 6 stacker - anyway have a look, the sockets are under the cover.

With due respect but we are not talking about your car but the OPs which is an SE. But thats not important - he just needs to check what he has and go from there.
