I see all emails. Actually I have been through the same exercise a while back and did some beta testing for Gap at one point.

Low beam headlights, parker lights and tail lights. Scandinavian setting they are on all the time and Canadian only when in gear (unless in gear with parkbrake on then they turn off). I don't believe there is any reduction to light output.

I used the Canadian setting, done with my IID tool.

So would be technically illegal in Aust by way of the 25w rule - (maybe that is why it is not activated on Aussie vehicles from the factory for D3s) - yes I appreciate that people will quite correctly ask what is the difference between manually turning on the low beams during the day and letting the DRL systems doing it automatically. Answer is obviously nothing except for what the legislation says.

    Cheers

Interesting. Mine turned the fogs on as well with both settings.
    I'll play more this weekend.

No Garry, it won’t be illegal as DRL lights come under the 25w rule, not Headlights, even if turned on using a setting.

DRL systems on D3s and D4s (pre-facelift) had separate DRL units that were optional.

Had a look at the new "untested" ccf listing and found an option for Daytime running lights.
Enabled it and tried it, and............................................... ....no good.
I guess there needs to be a physical option fitted for it to work.
It's been a fun journey, and I've learned heaps about the iiD tool, but DRL's are now off the list - I'll just turn on the headlights.
