Restricted Performance alarm came up with red triangle on dash and noticeable loss in power. Wasn’t towing or working hard, just driving on a slight uphill at around 60kph. Able to reset by an off/on ignition cycle and it didn't return. Interestingly no faults seemed to be logged when read with iiD, either when the alarm was active or after off/on ignition cycle.
Very similar experience for me today. My D4 now at about 74,000km, driving up a middlingly steep hill this morning - I drive up the same hill most mornings- giving it a bit of a nudge enjoying the torque, but nothing too much. Restricted Performance alarm, Little red triangle and noticeable loss in power. Pulled over, ignition cycled off and back on, alarm gone. No recurrence for the remainder of my short drive to work.

It's actually booked in to the dealer for a service next week so I'll see what they have to say and report back... and if I get a chance in the meantime I'll plug in the Nanocom and see what it tells me.

Update. I checked the fault code with my Nanocom - P006A Manifold absolute pressure - mass or volume air flow correlation..

Had the fault recur most times I drove it. Sometimes cycling ignition would clear it, sometimes took a few cycles. Car reduced power in limp mode.

Was already booked in to dealer today for service so took it in and diagnosis is that the intercooler is split and will be replaced. Now waiting on parts from Melbourne.

That extended warranty is coming in handy.

Hi Scott, I haven’t seen it yet and the service representative at the dealer service counter was a bit vague even when I tried to clarify. I’ll post the actual part/s replaced when I get it back, hopefully tomorrow. David

Well, no update on the nature of the repair but the dealership’s air con evacuation machine broke down so my job was delayed. So they lent me a nice new RR Velar HSE. No complaints here! Restricted Performance Event

Then it’s the actual intercooler itself as you originally stated.

Loan Velar returned and D4 picked up today.

48 month service done and more pertinently to the Restricted Performance Event, intercooler replaced. "Carried out inspection and found Turbo Intercooler leaking. Replaced Turbo Intercooler Assembly"

$975 bill - $330 for the intercooler, the rest labour - for Allianz under extended warranty

I did ask for the replaced intercooler so I could have a look but that goes to Allianz apparently...

    Gday David,

Any idea on why the Intercooler broke / leaked ? , I assume that means cracked. Never read of that so wonder why.

    Cheers Ean

Hi Ean, no idea from me and nothing offered by dealer service, although I didn't ask. I'll ask and see if they have any ideas...
