Dash oil level vs GAP oil level - which is right?

Out of curiosity, would anyone be able to compare their dashboard engine oil level display with their GAP to compare with my results? This snapshot is taken after the vehicle has stood all night:
I thought that with 6l of oil, the dash display would show full. Which do I believe?

    Thanks.

I never thought about using the Gap for that.
I haven't been able to read mine via the dash yet. Have tried a few times now, but it never reads,, can't remember what it tells me as a fault for that though,, something about time (?). Seems strange when it's been sitting for up to an hour when I've tried.

Well . I would check mine off nanocom whilst engine was running - it would read 5.4l then 5.9l

The gauge in the morning would read ' overfilled' , after sitting all night .

i extracted the oil and pulled just over 7l out , the challenge is I have been getting and egr fault ( out of range ) and after checking the top of the motor - it was all oily and the oil pressure gauge seems to be leaking .......

So the silly Billy's who changed the oil , overfilled it , the gauge sort of indicates it is overfilled , but the electronic witchcraft sort of says it's okay !

I would love love an oil dipstick please Mr LandRover .

To finish , i refilled with 5.6l and it reads one bar down from full and states "OK"

Hit the OK button twice , or shut the doors , ignore the 'press brake pedal ' , ignore the bong bong chime and then it will read ........

sorry , seriously I've found - get in car , push start button , and wait 30 secs usually comes good .

Ive been driving my Valiant (slant 6 ) it has extractors, the dipstick is in between two headers and gets hott .... I can't win !
    Luckily I doesn't use any oil 👍

Funny isnt it? That gauge isn't scaled very well. Another 200ml or so snd it would be right to the top. I wouldn't be concerned if you have definitely put 6litres in it

Therein lies the problem. After the last service (not by me) the oil showed "overfilled" on the dash the next morning & GAP said 7.3L. Using my recently acquired vacuum pump I sucked 1L out to bring the dash display back to full & the GAP showed 6.3L. I am now several thousand kays from the last service so the level has dropped another 2 notches but I still have 6L. Just trying to make sense of it all. If 5.9L is what it takes to fill the engine, why am I not showing full? Maybe I should bite the bullet & do an oil change myself to be sure.

Oh what I would give for a dipstick!

Dash oil level vs GAP oil level - which is right?

Regarding the GAP, are you reading the "calculated oil level"? There is also the "measured oil level". Does anyone use the measured level? If yes, what readings re equal full, half etc. Note: the measured level is not in litres. I think it says "m".
