It was towed onto the flatbed by putting in neutral and jacking the rear end up plus using dollies
EPB module/actuator needed to be replaced. Again.
apparently it was full of water??? Would have thought that everything under the car should be reasonably water resistant given its certified wading depth but what do I know
Doesn't make sense to me but I trust my mechanic Wilf Chambers (who incidentally replaced the EPB actuator at his expense as he had only done this 6 months ago)
All good now
Yep, it's either sealed water tight or it's not, whoever did the job didn't do it well if it was 6 months old! Really though, humans aren't robots, and seeing as he's offered to replace it, there's no reason to have trust issues. Would be worried if he made you pay for it though....
Probably the only way to be sure it is properly sealed is to do it in a factory using a robot in reality! Resealing it will always be difficult.
Is there a reason why the whole lot wasn't replaced with a factory sealed unit or is it always necessary to unseal it when replacing the EPB? I had mine done at about 90,000km and it has never missed a beat since in the last 170,000km, with heaps of water crossings and difficult off roading. I thought when they fixed mine they pulled out the old and installed the new part, which was the electronics and the mechanical bits combined, but I don't really know exactly what was done.
Brian, glad it all got sorted out in the end. Hopefully you won't be contemplating a Land Cruiser just yet! It went so well in the sand at Easter time.
Going to have to get some pointers off you now that I have just bought a D3 to add to the D1.... [bigwhistle]
