Unhappy another bloody EPB problem! brakes frozen on and need to get towed!

i'm getting pretty tired of these ongoing EPB issues .... now the car is unable to be driven, as the EPB is "activated", won't respond to the manual emergency release, and the fault codes i'm getting (have cleared them 3 times) are:

C1A53-68 (68) Electronic parking brake latching failure, emergency release has been activated - Algorithm based failure - event information
C1A47-02 (2 Force sensor electrical fault - general failure information - general signal failure.

anyone got a clue? as I said, i've cleared the codes a couple of times to no avail - still get the bonging chime and flashing light, dash warning message stating parking brake failure. Getting zero noise from the actuator.

can I tow the car by hoisting from the rear with front wheels down? will this damage the car in any way?

    seriously disappointed!!!!

    Hi Brian.

Sorry to hear of your problems.

It's my understanding that they have to be flat bedded and not towed. If the wheels are "locked" they can be jacked up and put on dollys to pull them onto the tow truck bed.

So the over-ride release didn’t work?

I would take the rear wheels off and adjust the shoes so that the wheel rotates and then try again? Google "bodsys brake bible" for a comprehensive how-to.

The computers may still chuck a hissy fit and not let you go anywhere, but you could at least move it about.

You certainly can't tow it with the front wheels on the ground. There is a centre diff so nothing will move if the rear brakes are on.

Did you replace the EPB previously or have you had trouble with it and not replaced the EPB assembly? The EPB drum brakes need servicing if used in dust and mud to stop them jamming or damaging the control unit.

It should move in neutral as the centre diff will let the front rotate freely.
