Prospeed Roof Rack for D3/4 Group Buy?
For those of you who have expressed interest in the UK Prospeed Roof Racks, I received this reply to a query overnight:
We’re still manufacturing the D4 roof racks regularly but we’ve been adding customers to an enquiry list for some time so we are dealing with those customers before we put the rack back in stock on the shop. We’re actually very close to completing the list so we should have stock in a few weeks
The link to the racks is: Land Rover Discovery 3 and 4 Roof Rack : ProSpeed
I have replied asking if they are interested in a bulk order to Australia and while I wait for a reply I thought I'd see if there was any real interest.
Such a deal would probably need to work along the following lines in order to be attractive to AULRO members:
1. The landed price in Melbourne would need to be about the same as the retail price in the UK. That is, the benefit of the group buy would probably be in saving on shipping costs.
2. The landed price would need to include full transit insurance.
3. The landed price would include GST etc.
4. Shipping from Melbourne to elsewhere in Australia would need to be a known quantity and arranged in advance. Either that, or shipping is arranged direct to capital ports.
I can store the shipment in Lancefield (Central Vic) and can arrange collection and provide fitting space in either Lancefield or Brighton. As I still regularly travel to Sydney, I can arrange to deliver the Sydney orders to an agreed location for probably very little additional cost. Perhaps a collection/fitting day could be arranged at one of the buyer's homes.
On the upside, we can take advantage of exchange rates and on-line FX transfer when placing the order. The downside would be the delay in shipment as the orders are collated and an economic shipping process is optimised.
So, although it's all pie in the sky at this stage, let me know if you are interested. Obviously, no commitment on anyone.
