Only the 1st shipment to Oz had the DPF because they were in the initial batch of 3.0 D4s all built with DPFs regardless of destination so that LR could qualify for Euro 5 certification on the engines. My 2009 build 3.0 D4 did not have a DPF fitted although I passed on my original order that came in the 1st shipment.

Thanks Graeme.
You did truncate my quote however, as the first comment was generalist and my next statement was addressing the fact that I was not sure what the ratio of 2009 builds with DPF were.
However .. I had heard the Euro 5 statement discussed years ago and that left me scratching my head. I'm not doubting for a second that it's true but it's gobsmacking that a manufacturer only has to meet the standard once and from that point on they can produce the same car that will not meet the standard ..... But it now makes sense. First target Europe ..... so the production line is set up to do that for all cars.
So what happened after that .... different builds for different countries I guess?
Cheers,
Kev.
Australia is still on Euro 4 , there its no requirement at all for DFP here .
But its illegal to remove them if fitted to a car by manufacturer , post 2011.
for Example the new Iveco Daily is Euro 6 sold here, It is fitted with DPF & SCR , but Australian Compliance plate is stamped Euro 4 .
Iveco only produce them in E3 for Africa & 3rd world markets & E6 for Australia & ROW
Euro 5 here since 1/11/16:

thats interesting , All new Ivecos are still being locally plated as Euro4 (even though they are Euro6 compliant)
but the last certification update was June 2016

Well that one is for light vehicles (3.5T GVM) Im not sure what other classes of vehicles emissions standards are - they may very well be different?
