Good to know, only starting happening since i upgraded the head unit a few weeks ago.

I lost all steering wheel functions including cruise control it was the clock spring which is not too hard DIY or expensive.
Hi all - had same intermittent button issue. followed the advice to clean connectors & worked perfect... however.... on test drive i could hear something catching and popped on tighter steering lock, then no controls worked.
i stripped down again & looked like the little pink connector was loose (perhaps power to the wheel? two wires brown & red) i re-seated it & put everything back together but still nothing works and on start i get an error that gear box paddles are disconnected, the airbag light is on & a triangle yellow light is on. controls don't work so cant read any more errors. Basically no controls on the wheel work at all now. including horn etc so seems power cut.
I wondered if the power got disconnected when that cable got caught & as it was disconnected while the battery was on it has caused an error on the ECU? would that be plausable? (i only thought that as the guide to remove air bag was very specific about disconnecting battery / waiting etc) Or perhaps the pink plug is now damaged? Or perhaps the clock spring has gone but unlikely timing when i know something sounded like it got caught & pulled out on rotation of the wheel.
Any ideas? I don't have a reader myself just thinking of any DIY tests or reset methods?
TIA Pete.

Could also be a blown fuse or needs a hard reset, that is remove battery leads from battery and short them together, if you don't have an OBD reader.
At some point after ten years the clockspring in the steering wheel will fail. It’s not expensive or hard to fix. I lost the CC function.
