Don't know if this answers the question, but after around MY12,all 3.0l,detuned or not were 8speed.The 2.7 was dropped, replaced by the 3.0l detuned.
Before that time,all,3.0l,and 2.7 were 6 speed.

And then.........you have the gear stick selector vs rotary dial.......
All,
very interested in this thread as am, too, looking for. Disco4. Aiming for post 2013 SDV6 HSE; if I can find one for <$65k. A L322may be an alternate solution. Is the SDV6 the best engine?
AMB
Alright, alright, alright (MM again!)....
Seems Martin knows his stuff as I found 13 ad's for MY2012/13 vehicles with the 8-speed AND with the 600Nm engine (if you can believe the advertising)! But some show a rotary dial and the other show a stick-shift auto...
SimmAus - do all the 8-speeds have the rotary dial? Because I found a few ad's on Car Sales that claims its 3.0litre engine, 600Nm car with 8-speed but it has a stick shift auto...!!! Fortunately 1 had creme/almond leather interior, SatNav, Harmon Kardon sound too!. All the rest were the dark interior and some were just stupidly priced.
On the subject of range Rover or Range Rover Sport - AMB, I too am looking at the RRS and it seems that I can get a RRS around the same year, with around the same mileage (or less in some instances) for around the same money (or less in some instances) - AND IT COMES WITH ALL THE FRUIT!! I don't understand this. Is it simply supply and demand? I mean, essentially under the skin, they are the same vehicle, aren't they??
Further, the almond/cream leather interior which I crave and rate so highly, is much more prevalent on the RRS than on the Disco 4. So, why should I not get a L320 for the same money, with the same mileage, and its better equipped - not bashing here, just playing the devil's advocate and in need of some intel!!??
Cheers,
Tricky
I belive that the rotary dial is all 8 speed and stick is the 6 speed. The RRS also has the option of V8 diesel to for what its worth![]()

X2. Don't trust the dealer. They may believe what they tell you but the VIN will give you the correct info in case they're wrong. I tried to look at Topix but it wouldn't let me log in. If no one else checks in the meantime, I'll have a look when JLR support sort it out.

What do you tow regularly? I would not discount the so-called “detuned” TDV6 3.0L. I have an MY14 8 speed TDV6 and tow a 1.8t (fully loaded) small caravan with ease and plenty of people tow a lot heavier quite happily. If you add this to your consideration you will most likely open up more options for better spec’d and/or lower km’s examples. While the SDV6 is better because more is always better, you don’t need it and it seems that you have other requirements important to you anyway, eg light interior, that will be easier to achieve with a wider field to choose from.
