D4 CD Player slot not aligned

    Hi,

I recently upgraded to a Discovery 4 (2010 model) TDV6 after the untimely demise of my Td5 D2. The D4 is a masterpiece and it will take a few years before the grin on my face will start to fade.

The only issue I have at the moment is the CD player. The D4 is a base model TDV6 (2.7) with the small monochrome display - not touch-screen/sat-nav. Initially we tried to insert a CD but it is like pushing it into a brick wall... If you look in the slot there is only a metal plate visible on the inside. Pressing the eject button makes the right noises like when a CD-player is attempting to eject and the screen displays "No CD in Drive".

Today I decided to take the plunge and dismantle the center console to see what is going on. A few youtube clips later I was inside the dash with the CD player exposed. It appears that the internal CD player slot is approx 1 cm higher than the external slot on the dash! I was able to insert and play a CD while the dash was dismantled but there is no way a CD will reach the player when the dash is assembled!

I looked at the mounting and there appears to be space below the player in the bracket but there are no lower or adjustable mounting holes.

Has anybody experienced this before? What are my options to get it fixed. I am still old-school enough to have a CD collection so would really like the player to work.

Does your D4 dash have the analog clock or the control panel buttons type?
Maybe the cd internal player has been replaced with a higher spec player which doesnt line up?
Or a lower spec fascia has been fitted to your dash?
Or the player is upside down?

    Regards

It has the number buttons panel. There are no visible signs that the dash has been taken apart before but if it was done professionally you would expect that. Except, if it was done professionally you would expect the CD slot to line up .

I was thinking it might be upside-down before I started taking it apart but there is only one way the unit will fit. All the brackets, slots, holes etc line up perfectly - everything except the CD slot...
