I've got the Maxxis on my D4. They've been excellent so far, including a 10,000km trip from Perth through the GRR and back. I bought 6 of them for about $275 each inc fitting and balancing which I thought was good value. They're a little noisier than the standard 19s but not so much that I've bothered to swap them out since we got back in August. Seem to be pretty hard wearing too. I'm guessing I'll get 50,000km out of them, with a rotation every 10,000km.
I've been very happy with Duratracs and will buy them again...... but everyone I know that has run Maxis has been happy.

I adjusted the tyre radius with my IID tool on my D3. Speedo is now spot on compared to GPS speed

I think they're pretty good - and I'm sure others will disagree (there are many threads on tyres in here!)...
IMHO - 19" tyres obviously aren't ideal for offroading - so tyre pressure and placement (where you point them) are crucial!!

Actually maybe I wont be able to get the iiD tool - didnt realise how much more they were from the basic diagnostic type device. Will have to save up...
Wondering about the 285 tyre width on the Tuffant rims? Anyone tried?
We punctured a Cooper 255/55R19 in Karijini as well - twice. Rear right tyre. First one was in the tread, put a plug in it at camp and all seemed ok. The next one was the same tyre, through the sidewall. When the tyre was off the rim, the first puncture through the tread had actually severed one of the steel cords.... the sidewall was a gash, instant deflation.Quote:

Any advice? I'm in the market for 5 off - Cooper Zeons have lasted about 70,000km and so far so good, but now dodgy in the wet (highest tread wear rating I've seen at 520A)

If I was still running 19” for touring and off-road driving I would be using the Maxxis 980. The only LT rated tyre in the size. There’s already a long thread for the Maxxis.
