The only quote I got today for an injector was for a new injector.

Can anyone provide a document/reference/evidence that the injectors can/can't be swapped between cylinders?
Simply I am asking; are the injectors built to be installed in a single cylinder? Or can any injector go in any cylinder? ( Just like all the detriots, CATs, MTUs, LR's and Toyotas I am familiar with?)

As I slowly piece this journey together I found more info on Disco3.

Ever since I've owned the Disco, it has always 'hunted' for 5-6secs at start up.
From what I am finding out, if I replace the one dodgy injector with a new injector, the other (223k km old) injectors may then 'read high' (info from Disco3 is that the high reading injectors are the dodgy injectors). So at the moment I am concluding that I am best off putting in a second-hand 'worn-in' injector.

As a matter of interest - did you price the injectors from a Territory engine ? From what I read a few posts back it seems the injectors are usable.

Ean that's the plan, but it'll likely involve some trial and error. Because I'm paying for this repair and not doing it myself I'm not willing to do R&D at this time.

My investigations have revealed that the difference between the EU3/EU4 is the EU4 engines (post '07 LR's and territory's) have a higher fuel pressure then the EU3's.

I am currently finding it very difficult to procure EU3 injectors. EU4 injectors are far more common.

Therefore; I'd nurse this engine through for a few years and then put the EU4 engine in if the EU3 computers will allow the higher fuel pressure.

All that said; let's just wait until after compression test and bore inspection. The current defect has put in an uncontrolled maximum fuel amount in a high load demand situation. I hope the piston is well My new D3 is great. Except for the engine.

    Contrary to the above,
    2x brand new injectors,
    3x fitting kits,
    (And 2x park brake shoes)

All ordered this morning including freight to QLD for under $1000.00

    I'll keep you updated

    Just to double check;
    The territory fuel system will work with a 5A chassis/ EU3 D3?

The high levels of iron and aluminium are pointing to a lot of wear going on in the engine.
The note about checking viscosity is a concern. Modern engines are often very fussy on oil types/weights. With no other info, my first thought would be that,at some stage, the incorrect grade/type of oil has been used, causing accelerated wear in the engine. Of course, that is just an opinion, based on the limited information available.
