Hi Peter,
I have a Traxide unit fitted, I attached one Ctek CTX to the cranking battery with the red positive terminal (dremeled to M8) secured under the bolt that holds down the traxide power feed cable and the black negative terminal to the M6 earth stud just outside the battery box. For the Aux battery I dremeled both Ctek CTX ring terminals to M8 and attached them to the corresponding terminals on the Aux battery via the M8 bolts that fixes the terminals to the battery posts.
I have an iPhone6S which works fine with the Ctek CTX, I've never tried a Samsung phone. For testing, I would suggest just fixing the ring terminals to a 12V battery posts with electrical tape if you don't have M6 fittings.
Hope this helps. The Ctek CTX battery sense does work very well, I can see real time changes in the voltage (and temperature) which closely match my multimeter. The unit stores measurements over time (see Dave's picture) and sends an alert when the battery needs charging.
Cheers,
Dean
