Hi Garry - I have an '07 RRS TDV8 which seems to be just a base spec (got it from auctions a few weeks back) - it seems like a fairly basis six stacker although it does have Karmon Hardon speakers... do you know how I'd tell if its this ICE spec or not? Looking to upgrade to an android unit or something also... but just not sure what i need.

Sorry cannot help with that - the base RRS system is same as the mid level system in the D3. 6 stacker in the head unit, steering wheel controls, optical link to the amp under the drivers seat, HK speakers and a sub woofer in the tailgate. This system has a speaker in each door, the sub in the rear and a tweeter at the top of each door.

Maybe someone with an ICE system can advise - not sure but I believe the head unit is Logic 7 (whatever that means), better amp
more speakers, controls from the back of the car and I think you can plug headphones into the back doors and listen different music to the front. Different sub woofer.

You need someone with the Logic 7 system to confirm.

Aerpro do a harness for the MOST systems but information is scarce as to what you lose in the upgrade, if its only the clock then its a no brainer.
Wheel control is included in the harness.

The steering wheel controls are also used to program the message centre - eg Mph/kmh, headlight on time, l/100 vs mpg etc. So when you loose the standard radio, in addition to the clock you also loose the ability to change the message centre.

However, having said that in the nearly 10 years I have had my car, I set it up when I first got it and have never changed it. If these functions are important, then you just splice in a socket under the dash so the original radio can be plugged into the loom and the new radio disconnected, do the changes to the command centre and then unplug the old radio and replug the new one.

You retain the wheel controls so unlike the D3 where its only the clock that needs the factory head unit.
