    12v switch panel wiring

    Hi all
I am building something like this into the drivers side rear cargo area in the Discovery.
This will be connected into a Traxide Dual Battery System already in the car, after the ABG-25 (Auxiliary Battery Guard) unit.

My question is, what gauge wiring should be used for all the wiring for the switch panel itself?

    Cheers!

Hi Jim, the first wire, coming from the output of the ABG-25 should be 6mm AUTO ( 4.5mm2 ) but all other connections can be made using 5mm AUTO ( 2.5mm2 ).

NOTE, if you use 5mm2 for the daisy chain connections, you can use YELLOW crimp terminals and 2 x 5mm2 wire will fit into a YELLOW crimp terminal.

Each switch has a +ve output wire running to the accessory (light/fridge/whatever).
Where does the -ve feed to the accessory come from?

Direct from the accessory socket to a ground point / Earth

Should the -ve wire from the accessory go back to the ground pin on the switch, or back to the car chassis somewhere?

I am daisychaining 4 of these switches together, if that makes any difference.

The ( - ) negative wire can go to the ground pin on the switch and if you want, you can run one to the chassis but it’s not nessesary to do so.

BTW, be careful of the symbols you use. The AUTOMOTIVE symbol for NEGATIVE or EARTH is ( - ), not -ve.

The AUTOMOTIVE symbol for positive is simply +

+ve and -ve is an electronics symbols and -ve actually means a voltage BELOW 0v.

You can piggy back from the ground wire on the switch if you like. Then take that earth to either battery - or an earth point on the vehicle.
