The instrument cluster on my 09 SE TDv6 turns off from time to time whilst driving. That is, it all goes blank and the needles drop to zero. It can last from a second to say 30 seconds until it comes back alive. Also, at other times, the central LCD info display goes blank but then over the course of minutes slowly comes back. I can see it start to come back very faint then increases in intensity until normal.

Have only noticed it over the last 2 months. I cannot see any pattern to it occurring.

My Nanocom is broken so I cannot see if any codes exist.

Is this a common issue on these cars? Are there any specific known causes? I will check for loose connections but I doubt if that is the issue. Looks to be more of a CAN-Bus thing?
My 2009 was parked for about a month. It got one half decent drive by my son of about 300km round trip before I was able to drive again a few weeks ago. Over the last few days while stopped waiting to turn left or right or stopped at traffic lights your "it all goes blank and the needles drop to zero. It seemed to be power related and had no impact on the engine running. Headlights and blinkers dropped off last night. Got home and tested the battery last night. It showed 12.46v with the engine off and 13.5+ with the engine running. Charger on battery last night and no issues seen today.

    How's yours behaving?

Dealer couldn't fix it during warranty.
So the point of a warranty then is?
Or is a warranty only selective when a job isnt too hard?

Keep in mind, if you have brought up the issue during the warranty period they still have an obligation to fix it.

Or is it like with so many customers I deal with, they have simply given up on going to the dealer to fix stuff or are in fear of more damage being done

Unfortunately the latter seems to be the norm and why i would never go to stealer for any work unless it was for warranty purposes.
Back when my old man bought a brand new 84 RRC when the LT77 came out he sent it in to the well known dealer for clutch work, when he got it back it was obvious that the box had never been touched as the discreet markings he put there were undisturbed.

Exactly what mine was doing. Looks like you are up for a new cluster. I always thought it was power related and most likely a dry solder but it appeared not to be. You could pull it out and resolder just as a try.

Not one bite from after charging the battery over three days. Battery is old so it still a possibility it is on the way out and the cause of my issue. Oddly my 2005 showed a lot more gremlins to any electrical issue and had a hard reset or two to clear them. The bug noted here all self resolved while driving. In my case possibly when the speed was having the engine running a little faster generating a little more charge from the alternator. Not sure but happy it may be a simple battery charge level.
