I would say more space.
Given the pricing for the discovery seems to be pretty darn close to the RRS pricing now, I’m curious which one people will buy next and why.
As this is a disco page so I’m expecting a lot in favour of the D5, but what does it have that the RRS doesn’t?
I would say more space.

Sean

...and better wading depth by 50mm and clearance (slightly). Offroad geometry is very similar.

RRS is better in the looks department 🤭
Folks,
I have an L494 RRS TDV6 2014. Was toying at the time between a Disco and an RRS. I wanted a good 'car' that would be a ripper driving and touring machine and also have the ability to tow. I wasn't locking for a device to do serious 4 by 4 or the like. The RRS is a much better road driving machine than a Disco. Take each for a test drive and you will see.
People asked why not an LC200 - I didn't want a barge and an LC200 in similar spec as the RRS is not dissimilar money.
The RRS doesn't have anything like the internal storage space, but that is not what I was after.

I've just reviewed the specs and i'm shocked because i always assumed the RRS was bigger than the discovery. I only reviewed the new d5 and the RRS so I'm not sure how it compares to our d4's but I'm blown away by the space difference in favour of the D5.
What surprised me even more was that in almost every other way the RRS is better or equivalent.
d4 has better wading depth but I would fit a snorkel before that becomes an issue.
d4 has better approach but RRS has better departure
same same for break-over angle.
The RRS engine however beats the D5 on ALL the stats, speed, weight, fuel efficiency, torque, KW.
Definitely keen to hear what the sales pitch is for the D5, given most don't care about 6mm clearence it must be based on load space.
I agree the RRS is a nicer interior and overall looks better, but the D5 has a nice bold 'presence' which is a good change from all the RRS in my area.
Isn’t the seating and off-road capability the biggest difference? Doesn’t a D5 come with more off-road appropriate setup in regards to tyres? Admittedly wheels and tyres can be changed.

RRS can come with TDV8, Supercharged V6 and Supercharged V8. Adaptive suspension, dynamic mode, CVD and a few other things that the D5 misses out on. Before anyone pipes up about the D5 SVX I left it out as it isn’t here yet.
I’ve been looking at the L494 for a while now and I’ve driven most of them except the hybrid, TDV6 and SCV6. All are very nice but the SCV8 is my pick.
