Hehe. They haven’t made it tricky.
It’s just most consider it expensive..
Otherwise it’s as simple as order key at dealer and pay to have it coded.. [emoji6]

After some to and fro from Patrick at gap diagnostics, firmware updates and the like I am pleased to report that my $25 eBay has been successfully progragrammed to my 2014 Discovery using iiD tool BT. . I am stoked to say the least. Think I’ll code a few more. So for less than the price of a new key from Landrover I now now have an awesome diagnostic tool to boot. Well done gap. I can now resume normal sleep.
cheers Steve
not sure if it’s a beta or not but I assume if you go to the gap updater app and get version build special 2448 and update your tool then you need to do ecu flash / kvm update. However if you are in my position I would email gap for instruction. Just the time zones are a pain but be patient.
Ive had a similar excellent experience with Gap for upgrades to permit full access to live values and CCF editing for the MY14+ update.
Hi all
Thought I'd add to this thread. I just got a new key for my D4 as I had only one key.
The D4 went into an independent LR specialist to get the new key fob programmed to the car on 17th July. They had ordered it from the UK with my cars VIN a few weeks before. But my D4 didn't accept the key and it immobilised itself. They couldn't start it and even the steering was locked. They had to get it towed LR centre. Eventually got the car back on the 23rd.
It needed a new a new KVM. New keys are now required to be shipped with new KVM. The LR specialist used software from Autologic I think. They said now that they are aware of this new requirement future customers won't have the probs that I had.
(I had earlier posted about this in the wrong section What did you do with or to your Disco today)
