    Windscreen replacement

I had my windscreen replaced and at the time did not notice that the plastic that goes down the side of the windscreen is loose. I only noticed this because my snorkel has a bracket that bolts into the plastic. It seems that the plastic has not been fitted properly as i can pull the snorkel about 20mm out from the body with the plastic side strip attached to it. It seems it has been not "clipped into place properly but I cannot be sure. I have the service manual from AULRO, and I did a search on "windscreen" but found nothing, about these parts. Can anybody tell me how they are clipped in and/or where can I find info how to remove these parts and refit in the workshop manual. (ie page No.)
    Thanks

Possible clip broken or missing - strip should be tight otherwise water will get into cabin when it rains

There are clips, not available on the outback roads. We had trouble with this falling off when road trains passed. Ended up using silicon, no more problems.

I got a broken windscreen on our trip to Cape York and had it replaced by O'Briens in Cairns. Automatic windscreen wipers would not work after that. When I got back to Adelaide I had the windscreen replaced again under warranty as the rain sensor unit in the Obrien windscreen was faulty. The plastic strips were broken during this replacement - Solitaire put new clips in for me and all ok now. What a hassle though.
    Cheers

I did a quick google a while ago about rain sensing wipers and thought it was a sensor on the dash that bounced a beam off the windscreen and back to determine the amount of rain on the windscreen, not a sensor in the screen itself. Thats would make it an expensive windscreen if there's no glass insurance I'd say.

Now you have me really worried. Mine only cost $695 and I have the rain sensing wipers! Will have to test them out

    Yours is probably aftermarket.

I think that after market is supplied as a default option unless you demand original. Fortunately when I had mine replaced under insurance recently I was able to get an original. I'm with NRMA and they will provide original but there's a clause in the policy that says "if available" so if your vehicle gets beyond held spare range you're going to be out of luck. Another benefit of this forum - I wouldn't have known otherwise apart from having read it on here.
