Winch Mount Direct to Chassis D4 - Is mounting to Bullbar a no no?

I have been told by the proprietor of a bespoke independant Landrover servicer in Perth that it is unwise to mount a winch direct to the bull bar, EVEN Winch/airbag compatible ones. The reason being that the winch puts too much strain on the crumple cans built into the bar/ vehicle. He says they should only be fitted directly to the chassis (aka the Devon 4 x 4 tyre discreet mounts I assume). He has seen vehicles with droopy bars caused by distorted cans... and no-one wants a droopy bar do they..

Any thoughts anybody?

Seems the discreet mounts may not work in conjunction with a bar?

    I agree, total "Codswallop".
Winch bars are designed to carry and use a winch from.

Thanks, that's what I thought... just a bit taken aback when he said this this morning when I dropped it in for service. These guys are considered the ducks nuts so far as LR service goes in WA, and by a lot of AULRO members.

The D3/4 bull bar mounts are solid to the chassis with no crush cans as such like earlier models.

I have an ARB winchbar fitted to my D2a and it came with crush cans, I have used it plenty of times and my bar isn't "saggy".

When fitted correctly, none of them have any rotation issues.

D3/4 certainly can’t rotate once mounted correctly.
