Thanks for that Steve, a very useful spreadsheet! I used it after putting my car over the weighbridge recently, and figured I've got about 87KG payload left. Pretty skinny!

I just took the D3 down to the weighbridge in Lonsdale and all looks good. I stayed in it, so I'm part of the total weight.

Managed to get my disco on the new weighbridge at the tip this afternoon. I left the 4 kids seats in as I couldnt be bothered with the hassle to remove and refit them. So with those still in and full load of fuel, both spares mounted on the kaymar and without me it was smack on 3t. GVM on the name plate on my D3 is 3230kg
So having a play around with the spreadsheet Im over GVM with the family onboard by 118kg with the addition of some extras that are always in the car - compressor, recovery stuff, fluids etc...

Wondering if anyone can explain this, but in my owners manual it list rear axle load as 1840-1875kg and then a seperate towing axle load of 2116-2151kg. The GVM listed in my manual also shows 3180-3230 so Im assuming that all those listed axle limits would apply in the higher side (at least thats what Im going to work with)Seems like I should be ok with axle loads when towing according to those specs and when I have the camper on I'll be well under Gross train weight

Look up the part numbers and then search at somebody like Advanced Factors UK.

The gist of it is that in Europe you are allowed to "overload" your rear axle by up to 15% while towing as long as you limit your speed to 100km/hr. Hence the higher RGAWR whilst towing. Interesting that you have that in your OM as that allowance doesn't apply in Aus. I'm intrigued...
