Reminds me of the DHC 4 Caribou story. When the RAAF ordered them from freezing cold Canada, they decided to remove certain components that were not needed in balmy Australia. They removed the engine pre-heater and weather radar option.
I met a guy who flew one of the first aircraft out of Canada on the long-haul, land hopping trip back to Oz.
They nearly crashed into a glazier or something due to the shocking weather before they even got out of the country ...... that radar might of come in handy .... LOL!!!
