    Well that's good news. That's the gasket I bought. Only needed the gasket as the conversion already done.

    Reset Adaptations?

    Should I use the IID Tool to reset the transmission adaptations?

    Yup. Over a few drive cycles it will adapt to the new oil and filter quite quickly.

    Job done

    OK, so job done on Saturday.

    Will write about the outcome here and write a bit more about the rest of the process for future reference in the sticky.

    So the results: Fantastic. Can't believe the difference. Whilst there was only a minor shudder under load in 3rd gear and some occasional clunky changes, the shudder is now gone completely and the whole thing just seems smoother and better to drive- could be some placebo effect, but the shudder is definitely gone. Somewhat surprised, as I have only done one drop and refill and didn't put in any Dr Tranny. Thought it might take the second refill and the addition of the shudder fixx to see a real improvement.

    Seems like the overall condition of the box is OK and that previous maintenance has looked after it. Going to do second drop and refill next weekend. However, my initial thoughts of adding Dr Tranny are waning as it seems new fluid (liquid gold) has done the trick and 5-6 more litres can only make it better. Thoughts?

    Another note, I think might have been a bit low on fluid. I didn't measure exactly how much came out, but I think about 5.5 ltrs. Put in 6.1 (measured), so I think the weeping sleeve must have lost a bit over time. This could well be the reason for the immediate improvement.

    This looks to be a new and good solution for 6 and 8 speed gearbox servicing.

    These Britpart videos are very good;

    Just some more info....

    *Did a auto service on a TDV8 yesterday @ 190K, it was one of the worst I have driven for shudder and crap change.
    *Service done, smooth as you like.
    *Doing as Justin C suggested with regards to remove rear long bolt at back of auto and raise up is great for a RRS model with the active stabiliser bars on it as the hydraulic unit covers front access to front pan bolts.
    *I'd say lifting the box up is so quick, I'm likely going to do it on all auto services from now on, even with my little fairy fingers (you know after doing 50 million of them without lifting it, duh).
    *They say JC isnt pretty but at least he has some useful ideas
    Regards
    Daz
