I would have thought that the worst reaction you would get would be a ( Ah crap, a bloody landrover. Gis a look at it and i will see what i can do".
I doubt that anyone in the bush would flat out refuse to help.
Yeah, most workshops are ok but I have run into a couple of unhelpful ones. Got told by a Ford dealership that they didn't work on Land Rovers, even after telling them my friends Puma Defender had a Ford engine and pointed to a Ford Transit in their yard. Figured it was worth a shot that they might want some extra $$ to have a quick look. My bad! Probably didn't help that it was smoko.... In the end, we worked out that the intermittant rattle was a loose bracket and fixed it. Yay, for the RAVE manual!
Oh, we weren't right out bush, but we were heading that way and figured we had a stroke of luck when we went through town and saw the Blue Oval up ahead. Incidentally, we may also have laughed ourselves silly in front of the guy when pointing out the Transit with it's bonnet up, which probably wouldn't have helped our cause! [bigwhistle]
On the other hand, you are right, I've found most isolated workshops are happy to have a quick look for you.
No, but it’s often unlikely there would be a Land Rover repairer there anyway. Perfect example of bad attitude towards Land Rovers in regions.
Until you’ve been refused service in a place with no other option, based on the brand of your vehicle alone, it might be difficult to comprehend. But it definitely happens.
Zeros, I've read your posts across a few different threads, all with the same sentiment. I'd suggest you've lost your way on the internet, and would be much happier here:

This thread has drifted a long way off topic - future proofing a D4 does not involve a Toyota. At all.
My posts have nothing to do with Toyota except as a comparaison to Land Rovers lack of service network. I suggest you read them again without blinkers. Off topic maybe, in the same vein as many others. Although part of future proofing your vehicle is where you need to travel to in order to get the required expertise. If you live outside a major centre nowhere near a LR Indi specialist it’s a problem. Cheers.
