Currently up the Cape with my 2016 D4 TDV6 and having done some seriously dusty roads was wanting to check the dustiness of the air filter but not sure exactly how to access it? I have brought 2 spare filters with me. Many thanks.
if its the same as the D3 TDV6 its at the front drivers side , has about 6 phillips headed screws holding the cover securely down, you may need to undo the big hose clamp that fits onto the plastic inlet pipe that runs across the top of the radiator. the filter just lifts out and put the new one in the same way.
I will see if I can get a photo if that doesn't make sense.

undo the hoseclamp and the cover will lift out the way , the air cleaner sits inside, very easy just lift out and put the new one in the same way

Beautiful. Thanks mate. Have me the confidence I needed. It is different to yours but similar in principle. A couple of hose clamps and some extra electronics to disconnect but I got to it. Gave it a clean out and will replace after a few more days of heavy use.

I think you travel the same as me DrOsteo with an extra filter. Much easier to change the filter and knock or hoover the old one out at a convenient time. When I had 300Tdi Disco moons ago I made the mistake of using an oiled filter.... total pain in the butt when travelling dusty roads.

At first he was reluctant to touch it because it had only just been “fully dealer serviced” for the trip.

Salesperson at one of the local stealers assures me the mechanics are very well qualified. My response to him was "In that case it's a pity they don't apply what they studied to actually doing the job".
That's the one thing I don't like about the D4, the lack of a dipstick to check if the turkeys have actually changed the oil. But as I don't allow them to touch my vehicles apart from any minor warranty stuff, I suppose that doesn't matter.
But at least we have some good independent people we can trust.
