    Performance chips

Yeah, like I need one. Very happy with what I've got.

    But.....

A mate has a D4. He had a D2. Ages ago, he had a chip in his Td5 and reckoned in went like stink.

The question is, is there a similar chip available for the D4?

If there is, is it worth getting one?

Please discuss. I'll be reading with interest.

Can you elaborate on the remap?

Who's D4 needs more power? The 2 I've driven go like stink already in stock form, I think some people just get greedy. 'Low on Power' isn't a common remark made about D4's from what I've seen... 😁

The D4 is Paul's. Yes, it goes well. He was wondering if it would go betterer like the D2 post chip. One of the local stores is advertising a chip for a D4.

Mick an SDV6 will do 185 km/hr from factory and gets there at a quite respectable rate for a none aerodynamic 3 tonne chunk of metal.

If he wants it to go like "stink"..... exactly what is he trying to improve?

Most plug in power chips, simply dump in more fuel without taking into account what else that may impact ... hence Mikes comments about remapping rather than a chip.

My TD5 was remapped and yes it went like stink..... but nothing anywhere near the D4 - in either top speed, acceleration, fuel economy or torque.

Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most

2015 TDV6 D4.... the latest project... Llams, Traxide, Icom 455, Tuffant Kimberleys and Mofos.... so far.
2012 SDV6 SE D4 with some stuff... gone...
    2003 D2a TD5...gone...
    2000 D2 V8...gone...

If i was looking for something "extra" in mine, id be looking for drivability off the line. She lags a bit, so in traffic, such as turning into a main road from a minor, you kind os need to predict the fact its got a delay...

We tow the 3+ tonne van, and its got more than enough.

I haven't driven a 3ltr but i'm quite happy with my 2.7, i would look at a remap to delete the EGR's and may as well give it a little tickle at the same time.

Chops, how are you feeding in the throttle?

It has a big effect if you “mash it” as opposed to feeding it on.

Feed it on and it will launch quicker as it’s not fighting itself to prevent wheel spin.
