Wheel alignment - how long does it last?

    Hi all

When I bought my D4 last year I noticed that the front left tyre was quite scrubbed, so the LR dealer agreed to have the wheels aligned before we picked it up. A year later the left tyre is again scrubbed. So, how long would you expect the wheels to stay in alignment and how sensitive are they to knocks etc?

I cannot answer your question directly but I recently had a 4 wheel alignment done on my RRS. The car had done just under 150,000km and was 11 years old - covered the usual mix of roads - bush tracks, outback gravel, highways, secondary roads with those big pot holes and of course suburban curb crawling.

When the alignment was done it was noted my car had taken a major hit and the front tongue of the front mount of the drivers lower suspension arm was bent.

However despite all this - the alignment was still within specifications on all four wheels - admittedly approaching the limits but still within limits.

The reason for the alignment - all four tyres had worn on the inside and I was getting new tyres.

So the alignment should last a long time but clearly depends on individual circumstances and use.

Thanks, I suspect the alignment was simply never done. All I've done with it is a bit of kerb jumping and some dirt roads which shouldn't be enough to knock it out of alignment.

Maybe not - you should have been given an alignment sheet with the before and after settings.

    This was mine

Thanks, no that wasn't provided with the purchase docs. Time for a polite chat with them.

A year later? I dont think the LR guys will take any responsibility for this. I always thought wheel alignments were a concrete warranty?

I've had to do a few alignments to my D3, but all have been the result of worn suspension components being replaced

Thanks all, first step is a polite conversation with the dealers.
