"Fitted perfectly and also retains the steel bar behind the bumper"

Are you sure? That bar goes right across the car and would block the winch opening, unless you cut a hole in it.That would then compromise the bar strength. The Devon has "rebuilt" that bar but it attaches to the winch mount. As far as I know the Devon one is the only one that replaces the bar across the front. See below.

It was the reason I paid more for my mount as I wanted the same strength as OEM, if possible. Also as this was put on a "celebrity touring promotional LR D4" I was more confident it might have LR approval.

Are you thinking of the mounts for the water bottle and the air suspension valves which are the two "L" shaped brackets that came with the kit?

Sorry, doesn't 'retain' the factory steel bar, you have to remove that completely. But it does come with solid steel ends that hold the water bottle and the other thing which bolt onto the main winch mount. It is quite solid they aren't flimsy L brackets. Was best value for money I found.

Before I purchased, I "researched" as much as I could. Yes the cheaper discrete winch mounts have those "L" brackets and I agree they are not flimsy but still they would bend very easily in a side on accident and do not offer the same protection as the OEM bar. My understanding of the original bar is to provide some strength to the bumper bar and in the event of an accident, because of its ridigity it transfers the impact to other areas and also would trigger the air bags quicker as a result. It took me a long time to decide why would I pay nearly double the amount for a bar, but in MY opinion, it came down to the better structural integrity of the Devon bar trying to best match the original intention of the OEM bar and the fact that it was fitted to a factory vehicle. Lucky for me I got a good discount and it was imported for less than $1000!!!.

Link to my install. I am too busy taking pics on installation. But others have.

hidden winch on D3/4 with standard bumper and NO roo-bar

There are a few pics of mine. You have no idea its there unless you look closely. Also with the cheaper mounts you see no difference externally to mine. I just know I have a solid bar across the front which the cheaper units dont have.

And just like Murphy's Law I have not had to use the winch for myself, but rather pulling other out of difficulties.

They commented that it wouldn't be legal in Australia so I have asked them to explain how they come to that conclusion.

One can assume this means they have not done any design testing for compliance with our ADRs. I am looking to see if they do a similar thing for the UK market. As here aftermarket ADR compliance means the item does not interfere with the original components fitted to the vehicle by the manufacturer. Vis a bullbar still ensuring the crash cans dealing with side and frontal impact will still work correctly

Laurie hello. I sent an email to them several weeks back and nothing heard so will do another follow up. Their last advice was production would start in February so stock would be available along with a price to Australia

OK folks the ProSpeed reply is below and it is very promising. Shipping costs to be established and if ordering it may be prudent to consider including some smaller items in the crate I suggest

    Rob

We’re just finishing off production jig number 3 of 3. Then we’ll manufacture the first batch, we’ve already starting cutting material so once the jigs are finished it’s just a case of assembling and welding them and then off to powder coat. I expect we will be ready to ship during the first week of March.

OK the next update regarding costs is below and was received last night. Based on this I will be talking to my local service team to see if they will be prepared to have a go at removing the OE bar, fitting this then replacing the OE bar. Looking at the photos provided so far I reckon it can be done with a bit of finessed and minor work on the OE bar

    Rob

Shipping is looking like it’ll be approx. £165, a bit less if you only want the hidden winch mount.

Yes we do supply an alloy fairlead, it is £112.50.

It should be available to order next week.

Wow - I wonder what "alloy" this fairlead is made from? - "unobtainium" perhaps?
