I don’t thinks so.
I’ve been around a while and seen the CA forum birthed which dealt with most topics of contention, but the nature of forums and people will never permit absolute harmony.
I’m another whom appreciated Mikes input. I appreciate straight shooters.

Looking at a number of posters, a few have had “holidays” and/or “demerits” self included.
I debated whether to renew my subscription this year for all and more of the reasons mentioned here and elsewhere.
This forum has brought me help with my vehicles but immeasurably more with with contact of a couple of members.
Simply that effort has been significant in helping control some of the spirals all of us have or will inevitably experience as the world continues to turn in spite of us.
All of us benefit from “time out” sometimes it’s better to call “time”

At the end of the day Tombie has done whatever he needs to do for himself and whatever that looks like is right for him.

Lots of people leave, well over 99% of them of their own choice.
Lots of knowledgable people stay too, some even like the place.

what do you mean? if there is a problem on the forum that can be identified and fixed and keep people like tombie around, how is that rude?

does that mean the other 1% are forced out? thats a worry.

the forum is here for technical arguments/debates. thats how knowledge is gained. and i have a debt of gratitude for tombie for the knowledge he has shared.

Lets inject some facts into the discussion instead of unsubstantiated rumours

Tombie wasn’t forced out

He walked from here and a lot of other places because he had had enough of people arguing with his point of view on a lot of things but mainly things relating to safety

He had done similar things several times previously

What gets right up my goat is your corrosive and demeaning description of the situation by introducing “petty arguments” as factor when at no stage did the man himself mention that as reason when he was talking to me

Strong personality attracts strong reactions and sometimes putting your self out there takes a toll and obviously he thought the price was too high

actually i didnt introduce it and i didnt say he was forced.
i was asking about about the culture of this forum, that causes a dedicated member to walk.

How about we all calm down a bit?

I find when I'm fired up about something it helps me to write down a very thorough statement of what is irking me. Once I'm satisfied it's complete, I rip it up into tiny little bits of paper and throw the whole lot in the bin.
Then I make a coffee.
Works for me.
I'm going for a long drive in my Defender this weekend, which is another form of therapy.
