    disco 3 instrument panel

    Hey Guys my first post.

Does anyone know where I can get a Disco 3 instrument panel??

Does it have to be genuine???

Will a second hand one work on my car??

    Thanks for your advice

If you look in the D3/4 section and read Shanegtr's post about his cluster issues it may provide some insight.

No, you'll need a genuine one if you're going to replace it.

    Have a read of these:
    D3 Instrument Cluster Drop Out
    No start issues

If I remember correctly there are some hoops you have to jump through when replacing the cluster with a new one (or second hand) which involves transferring data from your old one to your new one.

Personally, I would go for having it repaired if possible.
    Cheers,

I looked at second hand when I had my cluster faulting - couldn't find one for a reasonable price compared to getting mine repaired. But if you have and IID tool then your can reflash a replacement cluster - but you need to make sure the second hand cluster has less km's on it than your car. When reflashing if it has less then it will update the kms from the other modules to your correct current readout, however if it has more than the other modules will latch onto that higher km value and use that

This is the info that Pat from gap sent me for installing a replacement cluster:
The IPC replacement with a used unit is available via the fast lane service:

Fast lane service (ECU Flash) - Gap Diagnostic

Send us your ECU info so that we can provide the required file.
Once payment is received and file has been made available, the following instructions will have to be followed:

    Step 1: Update your IIDTool

-Connect your IIDTool to your computer
    -Start the updater software
    -Click on Find Device
    -Select Custom 2272

    -Click on Program Firmware
    -Wait until completion

    Step 2: In the vehicle

With the old instrument pack fitted
    -Connect the tool
-Menu->Car Config, do not change any settings. Wait until CCF reading is completed.
-Leave the tool connected on the OBD port and mobile App connected on the tool. Do not disconnect the battery, the tool needs to be powered.
    -Turn off ignition/remove the key

The following steps need to be done without delay between each other.
-Disconnect and replace the instrument pack with the new one.
    -Turn ignition ON
-Restore the CCF backup to the new instrument pack (Menu->Save Restore->Restore Settings->Car Config...)

    VIN Reset
-Menu->ECU Flash->IPC Reset, wait until completion
-Turn key OFF, wait one minute
-Turn key ON, wait one minute
-Try to start the engine, if it doesn't start, turn the key off, one minute, then on one minute. Repeat key cycling and delays until engine starts. It can take around 3 cycles before the engine starts

    Finalizing
Update the IIDTool Firmware to Build 2481
    Menu->Service Test->Instrument Pack->Synch odometer
    Menu->Service Test->Instrument Pack->VIN Learn

There’s a thread on Disco UK where on D4 they’ve managed to transplant the RR fully digital dash into the D4. Now I know this is irrelevant to this but wait. They explain how to get an eeprom reader to read the dash modules, get the immobiliser code, vin and mileage from the old one and update the new one with the content to get it working. It seems it’s not too hard if you understand how to use hex coder and a little bit of electronics. Just in case.....
