    D4 up in flames

I was talking to a fellow radio club member last night and he showed me a video of his TDV6 D4 on fire near Gundagai a week or so back.

His wife was driving and saw the smoke from under the bonnet and thought it was steam from overheating. So she stopped and waited for it to cool down. It wasn't until another woman pulled up behind her and told her to get out, the car was on fire that she knew about it. By the time the fire brigade arrived it was far too late. A couple of truckies stopped and tried their extinguishers but it was to no avail.

It's a write off. They were ab;le to get most of their stuff out of the car. Fortunately, his radio gear wasn't in it.

He's now bought a Prado and is awaiting delivery - a new Disco is too exxy. He said the dealership lent him a Prado while he awaits delivery and he said he really hopes his drives better than the loaner.

    D4 up in flames

The was one caught on fire a year or more ago nearby Dunsborough WA. Was driving on a nearby sandy track with owners onboard. A picture was posted on this forum. Was bugger all left of it.

Cars have been randomly burning since they were invented.

No, I don't. I might ask Bruce Davis (Davis Performance Landys) next week when I go out that way. Bruce knows about it as the owner got his D4 serviced by Bruce. Note: I am not blaming Bruce's workshop!

It was 18 September - my niece was driving from Albury to Canberra and has a pic with the car well alight - not nice to see.

That could be it. The last time I saw the owner was at a meeting about the Scouts Jamboree on the Air (JOTA) on the 11th Sept. I'll ask him.
