I can’t provide any factual evidence on the need to replace fuel pipework however - think of this.
You’ve watched videos of D’s burning to the ground. Supposedly unexplained. Diesel fuel sprayed in a mist onto an exhaust or turbo manifold. What might happen?
And return to step one of video of D’s on fire
Now my advice is. These connectors are generally self sealing once off. They’re designed such that the two surfaces bed together once only. This is why they are replaced each time. You risk a high pressure leak if you reuse. Do as it suggests and replace any pipework you undo. Don’t waste all your effort by burning down your ride.
