    Angry Coolant Bottle cap failure

    Gday All,

not sure if this is common or not - don't seem to have read about it but had mine fail and could be nasty outcome as you loose coolant . Lucky for me the message centre warned me both times . Only needed about half a litre to top up each time but I managed to pull over straight away as soon as I seen the icon come up. The surprise was how much came out when I finally turned the car off .

I replaced the coolant bottle about 12 months ago but they don't come with a new cap , old one screwed down fine and has been good but the cap ended up not being able to screw down tight and actually came loose whilst we were driving . I had to top it up and use some tape to hold the cap on as best I could till I got to a van park to inspect things closer .

Justin Cooper organised me 1 overnight and things seem ok in the 500 odd Ks I have done thru the Tassie hills since it happened.

Moral to the story - fit a new cap when you fit a new bottle as you will be surprised how quickly you loose coolant from a faulty cap. Luckily for me it happened where I could source 1 easily and quickly thru Justin. A plug for Justin as well for his help and fast delivery.

    Cheers Ean

Had exactly the same problem half way along the Anne Beadell a few years ago - thought the HG was going for a while.
One of those rare occasions where the simplest fix is the right one.
